La Romaine and Unamen Shipu are the last villages in Quebec's Lower North Shore that are not yet powered by renewable energy. However, they will soon be connected thanks to a 35 kV overhead line built by Hydro-Quebec, in the final stages of completion.
For this 90 km connction project in late-2019, Sicame Energie supplied Hydro-Quebec with approximately 1500 units of the new Starpole anchoring system for wooden poles, representing a budget of CAD$1m.
Starpole is a new range of anchoring systems designed to install and secure posts (wood, composite, etc.) in place on rock, concrete or any hard surface. Compliant with the CSA 015- 05 standard, Starpole resists most loads and is easy to install. To date, more than 30,000 units of Starpole systems have been installed on utility lines in North America.
