Sicame Group contributes to improving the reliability of the African network

In early January, Sicame Group completed the deployment of MVCC (sheathed cable) technology on a 17 km overhead line in Sub-Saharan Africa.

This project, which is very promising for the African continent, is the result of two years of collaboration between subsidiaries and makes it possible to rectify short circuits and disturbances caused by contact between vegetation and bare conductors.

To improve the reliability of the network, the Group used MVCC technology, a medium-voltage sheathed cable that had already been tested on a Sicame Polska project in Poland.

Thanks to Sicame Group's intervention, the number of faults and interruptions on the line, which is over 40 years old, has been drastically reduced. This success was made possible thanks to the collaboration of several subsidiaries: Sicame Polska supplied the cable, Dervaux Distribution the fittings, Sicame India the protective accessories, Sicame Pompadour the branch connectors, Dervasil the surge arresters, and Sicame Nantong the anchoring accessories. This is a fine demonstration of Sicame Group's ability to bring together different areas of expertise to meet its customers' needs.

As MVCC technology is promising and relevant throughout the tropical zone, the Group aims to find other growth drivers in West Africa and to establish the same close relationships with other energy utility companies in order to roll it out.
